The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, attended an informal meeting of CIS heads of state, which took place in St. Petersburg on December 25. This was reported by the press service of the republic’s leader.
The large-scale event was also attended by the presidents of Russia, Vladimir Putin; Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko; Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov; Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov; Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon; and Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. During the negotiations, the parties summarized the main results of 2024. In addition, priority tasks for mutually beneficial cooperation in 2025 were considered.
The heads of state agreed that it is currently important to develop measures to expand intra-regional trade. The presidents exchanged views on promoting cooperation in the fields of “green” energy and peaceful nuclear energy, creative economy, and internet technologies. The importance of creating engineering schools and implementing new digital solutions was also noted.
