“Altyn Asyr” Turkmen Lake is a large reservoir located in the south of Turkmenistan, built with the aim of improving water supply to the population and developing agriculture.
Turkmenistan, characterized by its desert territory, faces significant water supply challenges. The “Altyn Asyr” lake, situated in the Karakum Desert, serves as a water reservoir and accumulator, collecting surplus water from the Amu Darya River and sewage water to reduce water scarcity and provide additional water supply to irrigated lands.
This large water reservoir helps regulate the water level in hydraulic structures and supports the stability of water programs. The “Altyn Asyr” project plays a crucial role in the development of agriculture, water conservation, and improvement of the ecological situation in Turkmenistan.
The “Altyn Asyr” lake is part of a large-scale development project that takes into account the organizational, labor, and technological achievements of the Turkmen people. The project is implemented through the joint efforts of the public and private sectors, aiming to save water, develop agriculture, and improve the standard of living for the Turkmen people.
