WhatsApp unveils file sharing without internet

29.04.2024

The Meta-owned messaging application WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will make it easier for users to share files even with no internet connection.

The platform is working on a way to let people share photos, videos, music, and documents offline, as per the recent leaks.

Without needing an internet connection, Meta's application is actively working on this feature to allow users to share various types of files, according to WABetaInfo.

Making it hard for anyone to tamper with them or corrupt them, the shared files will also be encrypted.

Additionally, leaked screenshots from the latest WhatsApp beta for Android have shown the permissions that the app will need to make this feature work.

One prominent option is to find nearby phones that also support this offline file-sharing feature.

For local file sharing on Android, there is a standard system permission that lets apps scan nearby devices through Bluetooth. Notably, users will have the option to turn off this access if they wish to do so.

Prior to this, the Meta application also revealed a note-pinning feature for users.
