On May 29, 2024, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan D.Gulmanova held a meeting with the Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia (OHCHR) Matilda Bogner.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on current issues in the development of Turkmenistan’s partnership with the UN OHCHR. At the same time, the head of the national parliament emphasized effectively fulfill obligations in the field of human rights, our state carries out close and multifaceted cooperation with relevant international organizations, primarily within the UN.
Taking care of women, improving their role in society, protecting children is one of the main priorities of the state policy of our Hero of Arkadag, the respected President of Arkadagly Hero Serdar. According to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, all conditions and opportunities have been created for the women in the country can freely choose their profession, receive a decent education and have a happy life for their children. Our country proves its commitment to international obligations to protect women’s and children’s rights with concrete actions.
The parties discussed issues related to the work of the Interdepartmental Commission to ensure the implementation of Turkmenistan’s international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law.
The Turkmen side also noted the importance of the contribution of the UN OHCHR to the implementation of national programs and plans in the field of human rights, in particular, the National Action Plan (NAP) on human rights for 2021-2025.
