The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in partnership with the Club of Editors-in-Chief of Kazakhstan, announces the start of accepting applications for the 9th competition “Kazakhstan through the eyes of foreign media” for foreign journalists (hereinafter – the contest) writing/filming various materials about Kazakhstan.
Since 2014, the competition has been selecting text and video materials from foreign authors who most creatively, reliably and objectively cover various aspects of Kazakhstan’s reality. Nowadays, social networks play an increasingly significant role in providing quality content, and we are happy to encourage bloggers and active users of social platforms to share their unique perspectives on Kazakhstan.
Applications with information (analytical, cultural-entertainment, documentary, etc.) materials about Kazakhstan which were posted in foreign media or on social networks during the period from August 1, 2023 to August 1, 2024 are accepted for participation in the competition.
The winners will be rewarded with a trip to Kazakhstan, visiting the cities of Astana, Almaty and the Mangistau region, where a rich cultural program will await them.
This year, the partners of the competition were the National Company “Kazakh Tourism” JSC, the Secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Kazakhstan Agency for International Development “KazAID”, the Association of National Sports and the national television channel “Jibek Joly”.
In addition to the main topics, this year new nominations from “KazAID” and the Association of National Sports will be presented, within which two winners will be determined.
Based on the results of the competition, five winners from five geographical areas will be determined:
- North and South America;
- Europe;
- CIS;
- Middle East and Africa;
- Asia-Pacific
and four laureates in nominations on the topics of tourism, CICA, “KazAID” and national sports.
In addition, according to established tradition, meetings with representatives of the public sector, experts and journalists, scientists and cultural figures of Kazakhstan will be organized especially for the competition laureates.
All works must be sent no later than August 1, 2024 to the email mediacontest2024@mfa.kz.
The results of the competition will be announced by 5 August 2024.
