The UNDP/GCF project “Developing a National Adaptation Planning Process in Turkmenistan” in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the IOM project “Mainstreaming the Migration, Environment and Climate Change Nexus into Climate-Related National Planning Processes” organized a working meeting between representatives of the governmental, private sector and civil society of Turkmenistan on July 12, 2024.
The working meeting’s agenda placed special emphasis on rational water use amid changing climate conditions.
The participants explored both local and international water use practices.
Presentations covered various topics, including water use planning on local farms, the application of modern irrigation technologies for fall wheat in southern Turkmenistan, the contemporary utilization of karezes in Azerbaijan, and partnerships supporting water resources in Tajikistan.
