On 30 October 2024, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation from the Russian side.
The guest thanked the head of state for the personal meeting and conveyed to him and the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warm greetings and best wishes from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
Russia’s commitment to traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan was reaffirmed.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov welcomed the guest and conveyed greetings and good wishes to the leadership of the Russian Federation, emphasizing the good-neighborly and strategic nature of the interstate partnership.
The head of state noted that Turkmenistan pursuing its foreign policy course based on the principles of positive neutrality is also constructively cooperating with Russia in the multilateral format. In this regard, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted the high level and significance of the XVI BRICS Summit held in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, which became an open platform for exchanging views and discussing current issues of interstate cooperation.
Noting the importance of the current visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation to Ashgabat in maintaining a regular intergovernmental dialogue between the two countries, the President of Turkmenistan wished to guest fruitful negotiations with his Turkmen counterparts aimed at promoting mutually beneficial partnership.
The meeting continued with an exchange of views on priority areas of bilateral cooperation. It was noted that the political dialogue is consistently strengthening and active inter-parliamentary cooperation is continuing. Successful ties have been established between Turkmenistan and the regions of the Russian Federation.
Trade and economic sphere was identified as an important part of Turkmen-Russian cooperation.
The sides also touched upon humanitarian issues, including education, science, culture and healthcare. In this context, the two countries reaffirmed their intention to develop mutually beneficial cooperation that meets mutual long-term benefits.
At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation Alexei Overchuk exchanged best wishes, expressing confidence that traditional Turkmen-Russian partnership will continue to develop successfully, being enriched with new content.
