On November 27, the second ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport was held in Ashgabat. The event took place within the framework of the conference “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Connectivity and Development – 2024.”
Participants discussed the possibilities for developing sustainable transport systems at global and regional levels, and emphasized the need to consolidate efforts in preparation for the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport for 2026-2035.
The parties noted the necessity of further improving the activities of this structure and consolidating efforts to overcome challenges in the transport and logistics sector, including ways to minimize regional and global barriers in this sector and promote the initiatives of UN member states in the field of transport development.
In addition, participants considered the issue of accepting new member countries that expressed their intention to join the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport. As a result of the meeting, the parties adopted a Final Declaration.
