Is there anything specific you would like to know about biodiversity or its importance?
One of the essential conditions for the socio-economic development of any country is the integration of environmental issues with modern solutions. In Turkmenistan, the Program for the Development of Science also prioritizes the rational use of nature, including biological diversity. Accordingly, ensuring environmental safety and scientifically substantiating the use of nature and the protection of biological diversity has become one of the main priorities of state policy. It is necessary to teach students – future specialists – the scientific foundations of rational use and conservation of the world’s and our country’s biological wealth to pass it on to future generations.
Protecting and multiplying biological diversity, especially rare and valuable species and natural populations, is considered one of the important issues of universal significance. Preserving, multiplying, and passing on the unique genetic heritage of plant and animal world of our country to future generations is one of the most important issues of our time. In this regard, the Red Book of Turkmenistan is of great importance, serving as a treasure trove of biodiversity.
The Turkmen people have protected their beautiful nature, which has been a source of inspiration for centuries, and have integrated natural wonders into their national heritage, culture, and traditions. They have depicted their beautiful nature in handicrafts and music, adorned world-famous Turkmen carpets with colors derived from various plants, and used hundreds of medicinal plants in folk medicine. Therefore, the special respect and reverence for nature have been preserved for centuries and ingrained in the minds of our generations.
The diverse natural conditions of Turkmenistan greatly influence the composition and distribution of the animal and plant world. The study of the animal and plant world in Turkmenistan dates back to the late 18th century. During this period, foreign travelers who visited different parts of our country described the unique plant and animal world of this beautiful land.
Every corner of the complex structure of the Earth, the common home of humanity, always requires attention and care. It is our sacred duty to treat nature with care and true ownership. Great work is being done at the state level to protect and enrich our country’s beautiful nature. Caring for nature is the concern of all people, and every resident of Turkmenistan must protect our natural wealth as the apple of their eye.
