In the transport sector, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan can achieve great success only by working together in a team and consolidated format, complementing each other. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastaev, in response to a question from an SNG.Today correspondent in Ashgabat during the ITTC-2024 forum.
Highlighting the prospects for cooperation, Lastaev unequivocally pointed to the activation of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM or Middle Corridor) and the North-South corridor, calling these factors some of the most relevant in the freight flow system.
In this regard, the interviewee emphasized that given certain geographical and geopolitical conditions, the importance of moving goods across the Eurasian continent is significantly increasing.
Returning to the prospects of bilateral interaction, the head of Kazakhstan’s transport department also touched on the issue of air communications. Talgat Lastaev informed that next year it is planned to resume passenger flights between Ashgabat and Almaty. Currently, the parties are negotiating.
The conference “International Transport and Transit Corridors: Interconnection and Development” (ITTC-2024) is being held in Ashgabat from November 26 to 27. For numerous delegates, the forum has become a significant platform for exchanging solutions and initiatives in the field of transport diplomacy.
