Turkmenistan took part in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on the Review of “Beijing+30” and the round table on women’s rights and combating gender-based violence. The events were held in Bangkok.
The conference was held under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and UN Women. Participants discussed the prospects for achieving sustainable development goals in the region, women’s economic rights and opportunities, and gender equality.
Oguljennet Berdiliyeva, Chairperson of the Central Council of the Women’s Union of the Republic, spoke about the growing role of women in the social, economic, and political life of Turkmenistan.
As a result of the conference, a regional report was adopted, outlining further work to ensure gender equality and the empowerment of women.
