Apple Accused of Spying on Employees

04.12.2024

The lawsuit claims that Apple requires employees to install special software on personal devices used for work. This software allows the company to access personal data such as emails, photos, health information, and data from smart devices. Additionally, Apple allegedly implements a privacy policy that prohibits employees from discussing working conditions, including with the press.

Bhakta, who has been working at Apple since 2020, claims that he was forbidden from talking about his work on podcasts and was asked to remove information about working conditions from his LinkedIn profile. He also asserts that such practices violate freedom of speech, the right to protect workers’ rights, and limit their ability to change jobs.

In a statement, an Apple representative said that the claims in the lawsuit are unfounded and that the company’s employees receive annual training on their rights to discuss working conditions.
