In Kaluga, the former Samsung factory has started assembling servers for the Russian company “Graviton.” Currently, the facility is leased by the distributor VVP Group, which also rents out space to other manufacturers. Previously, the factory produced Samsung televisions and monitors, which were supplied not only to Russia but also to CIS countries and nearby regions. After the Korean company left the Russian market in 2022, production was halted, but now the capacities are gradually being restored.
According to “Graviton,” up to 20,000 servers are produced annually at their facilities, including leased ones, and by 2025, they plan to produce 60,000 new items such as printed circuit boards and monitors. As part of a partnership with OpenYard in the Ryazan region, the company is increasing the production of server equipment. The Kaluga factory is also involved in the production of televisions under the Hi and Carrera brands, making it an important assembly point for Russian technology.
Experts believe that the potential of the Kaluga factory is enormous: it can produce up to half a million devices per year. “Graviton’s” main customers are critical infrastructure sectors: energy, transport, banks, and government institutions. Olga Kvashenkina, CEO of SNDGroup, noted that such facilities help quickly adapt production to the domestic market, especially in the face of a shortage of foreign components.
