An important event for the CIS countries took place in Tashkent: Tashkent handed over the status of the Youth Capital of 2024 to the Azerbaijani city of Gabala. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
At the ceremonial event, the Deputy Director of the Department for Cooperation in Political, Humanitarian, and Social Spheres of the CIS Executive Committee, Khalmurat Rashidov, was present. He thanked Uzbekistan for its active support and presented certificates to the project participants.
A key part of the event was the International Volunteer Forum, which brought together leaders of this movement from CIS countries. As part of the event, an exhibition of volunteer activities in the region was organized, and the first UN review on volunteers in Central Asia was presented.
The “CIS Youth Capital” project was launched in 2022. It is planned that in 2026 this status will be given to the Armenian city of Kapan.
