MediaTek Saved Xiaomi: The Company Will Share 5G Modems After Qualcomm’s Refusal

02.12.2024

However, the company faced difficulties in providing its processors with 5G modems. After Qualcomm refused to supply, Xiaomi turned to MediaTek, which agreed to provide its modems for the new chip.

It was previously reported that Xiaomi is developing a 3-nm chip in collaboration with MediaTek, with production to be handled by TSMC.

This cooperation will allow Xiaomi to integrate Dimensity and Helio developers’ 5G modems into its devices, ensuring high performance and compliance with modern communication standards.

The new chipset is expected to compete with flagship solutions from Qualcomm and MediaTek itself, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Dimensity 9400.
