The network deployment followed a successful trial last year and is already underway in Neubrandenburg, Northern Germany. Nokia will replace Huawei equipment, which has been excluded from many Western networks due to “security concerns.”
The use of ORAN technology allows for increased flexibility and reduced costs by integrating cloud software and hardware from multiple suppliers. Ericsson, which has secured major contracts with companies like AT&T and MasOrange, also promotes ORAN as an “economically efficient alternative” to traditional network systems.
