Chinese insider Digital Chat Station reported that the chip with model number SM8735 will be named Snapdragon 8s Elite and will occupy a niche between Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
The performance will be higher than the previous generation but will fall short of the flagship version, Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The first smartphones based on Snapdragon 8s Elite will be devices that appear in the spring of 2025. Among the possible candidates is the Xiaomi Civi 5, as its predecessor, the Civi 4 Pro, was the debut model for Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
The details of the new chip are still unknown. It is likely that Qualcomm will retain the core configuration but reduce clock speeds and install a less powerful graphics accelerator.
Despite the reduced parameters, the Snapdragon 8s Elite promises to be a productive solution suitable for sub-flagship devices.
