On November 30, in the city of Chengdu, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. Following the negotiations, the diplomats signed a memorandum of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, according to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The interlocutors noted the fruitful nature of the interstate dialogue, built on the principles of mutually beneficial partnership. In their opinion, the dynamic development of bilateral relations is facilitated by regular contacts at the highest, governmental, and interdepartmental levels. In this context, the parties discussed the implementation of previously reached agreements.
The ministers also emphasized that an effective mechanism of interstate interaction is the joint intergovernmental committee on cooperation. The diplomats also noted the productivity of the multilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and China within international and regional structures.
In addition, the diplomats analyzed the progress of joint activities in the fields of energy, transport and communication connectivity, and cultural and humanitarian areas. The parties also touched upon the preparations for the second summit of the heads of state in the “Central Asia – China” format, which will be held in 2025 in Astana.
