Turkmenistan and Russia Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

On December 2nd, Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The parties exchanged views on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, according to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The diplomats paid special attention to key aspects of the Turkmen-Russian agenda, particularly the interaction between foreign policy departments and the schedule of upcoming joint events. The ministers emphasized the importance of expanding inter-ministerial cooperation.

It is worth noting that diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan were established on April 8, 1992. The legal framework for bilateral cooperation consists of more than 200 interstate and intergovernmental agreements.
