Turkmenistan Discusses Ozone Layer Preservation Issues

An interdepartmental meeting was held in Ashgabat to discuss Turkmenistan’s actions within the framework of the latest amendment to the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer.

The meeting was addressed by Dowran Yagmyrov, head of the department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the republic. He noted that Turkmenistan is working on global climate and “ozone” agreements. Additionally, Batyr Ballyyev, the national coordinator for the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change from Turkmenistan, presented an overview of national legislation on ozone layer preservation and climate change.

Furthermore, reports from several speakers focused on international measures for the control, inventory, reuse, and disposal of refrigerants from old equipment, analysis of the modern climate equipment market, and alternative refrigerants that do not deplete the ozone layer, as well as energy-efficient technologies in modern climate equipment.
