Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov highlighted the extensive potential of neutrality, which implies broader use of its practical tools, at a high-level international forum in Ashgabat.
Rashid Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan has become recognized and respected worldwide due to its constructive foreign policy activities, initiatives in global and regional security, sustainable transport, energy, environmental protection, and humanitarian fields, where neutrality is the political-legal and ideological constant of all state actions.
This principled position of Turkmenistan was confirmed by the esteemed President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, during negotiations with UN Secretary-General António Guterres in July this year in Ashgabat. The head of state reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to strategic partnership with the UN as an unconditional priority of its foreign policy.
Additionally, at a recent expanded government meeting, the President of Turkmenistan noted the need to enhance the role of neutral and non-aligned states in world politics.
The representative conference “Joint Actions to Strengthen International Peace and Sustainable Development,” dedicated to the 29th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, was held on December 11 in Ashgabat.
