As a neutral state, Turkmenistan supports efforts to achieve peace and civil accord, restore economic infrastructure, and resolve social issues in Afghanistan, and will continue to assist this country. This statement was made by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, during a phone conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres. This was reported by the electronic newspaper “Turkmenistan: Golden Age.”
The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that Turkmenistan is implementing several major economic projects with Afghan participation, including the construction of the TAPI gas pipeline, power transmission lines through Afghanistan to Pakistan, and the construction of a railway from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
Hero-Arkadag also emphasized that Ashgabat has been providing humanitarian aid to the people of the neighboring country for many years, building social facilities in Afghanistan at its own expense.
