The European Commission found that Apple’s regional restrictions, such as limiting payment methods and banning app stores outside the EU, violate the rules. Specifically, users cannot change their Apple ID country or transfer purchases from one country to another. Apple was given a month to respond, but no changes have occurred so far.
Google has also been scrutinized regarding Play Store practices. Last year, the EU found similar issues, such as restricting users to update their registration in one country per year. Although Google has made updates to comply with EU norms, the remaining issue of transferring Play Store balance between regions may also come under review.
