The tags allow tracking the movement of a car and any other item to which these gadgets are attached, placed in luggage, etc. Colorado police believe that the free distribution of tags will help fight crime amid a serious increase in car thefts.
Police are distributing the tags for free along with stickers on cars that read: “Attention – equipped with a tracker: this vehicle can be tracked by the police in case of theft!” Information from the tags will indeed be transmitted to the police to track the location of the car if the owner reports it, authorities announced to the media.
