For the first time, Apple will enable AI features by default on all compatible devices. Previously, to use these features, which were first introduced in iOS 18.1 and expanded in iOS 18.2, users had to opt-in themselves.
However, iOS 18.3 includes another significant change: the update temporarily disables AI-driven news notification summaries. This step was taken following disputes over “accuracy.” Although Apple is confident in its tools, the company decided to suspend this feature.
The company emphasized its commitment to “responsible AI,” ensuring that features will be tested and refined before becoming available.
