Currently, Oracle provides most of TikTok’s server infrastructure. According to an anonymous source, if the deal goes through, Oracle will play a more active role in monitoring the app and “reducing control from China.”
Microsoft’s role in the negotiations is unclear. In 2020, Microsoft, along with Oracle and Walmart, tried to acquire TikTok, but the deal fell through. Reports indicate that Walmart is not participating in the new round of discussions due to the high cost of the app.
