The project is being carried out with the participation of students from leading universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg under the guidance of museum experts. Future specialists will study archival photographs, historical descriptions, and generative AI models to create textual descriptions of the lost images and reconstruct their visual representations.
Before the war, the Empress Catherine II’s Toilet Room housed 103 paintings, but only ten have survived to this day. The restoration of the remaining panels will take two months, during which students will work in a special laboratory, study machine learning technologies, and test the capabilities of neural networks.
