Apple introduced its first modem, the C1, in the iPhone 16e, but Qualcomm has already released the new X85, which, according to Amon, significantly outperforms competing solutions.
He noted that this is the first modem to actively use AI, allowing it to perform better in weak signal conditions.
Meanwhile, Apple continues to develop its own modems for future iPhone models, but Qualcomm is confident that its technologies will remain in demand.
Amon also confirmed that he expects Apple to stop sourcing modems from Qualcomm by 2027.
