29.04.2025

In the mid-20th century, Akhal-Teke horses were labeled as symbols of bourgeoisie and old traditions, leading to their persecution. Being an inseparable part of Turkmenistan’s ancient culture and horse breeding art, these horses faced the threat of extermination due to ideological policies.

Many horses were killed, while others were crossbred with inferior breeds, putting the pure Akhal-Teke lineage at risk and causing severe harm to their genetic traits.

Nevertheless, the deep love and devotion of the Turkmen people saved Akhal-Teke horses from extinction. Skilled horse breeders and guardians of ancient traditions worked tirelessly to preserve this noble breed, ensuring its survival and lasting glory.

Today, Akhal-Teke horses are not just a national treasure but a global symbol of beauty, speed, and equestrian excellence. Their legacy is cherished in Turkmenistan and continues to thrive through modern technology and expert breeding, ensuring that despite past challenges, their legend remains eternal.
