The Information reports that OpenAI is considering acquiring the startup io Products, owned by former Apple Chief Designer Jony Ive.
It is known that the deal could amount to $500 million. io Products is developing a device featuring artificial intelligence. The entire process of the “consumer AI device” rests on the design studio LoveFrom, which Ive founded after leaving Apple.
The only known detail about the device is that it is intended to assist users with everyday tasks. OpenAI will develop AI algorithms for this “smart” device.
However, there is no information on the companies’ plans when they collaborate or on the production volume of the device.
