Google Messages is set to simplify the process of joining group chats. Analysis of the program’s beta version (messages.android_20 250 33102_RC00) revealed that developers are working on an invitation system through links.
Users will be able to create unique URLs or QR codes, allowing others to easily join chats. This feature, noted by Android Authority, is not yet active.
Created links will be valid for 30 days, after which they will automatically expire, enhancing security. Additionally, there will be an option to switch between single-use links for one person and reusable links for a wider audience. This eliminates the need to manually add each participant, as is currently required. For example, planning a family trip or discussing news will no longer be a time-consuming process.
Although buttons in the interface are not yet operational, progress is evident. Google Messages already offers modern features like RCS (Rich Communication Services) support—technology that replaces old SMS systems with richer functionality, such as sending high-resolution photos. This new option will make group chats even more convenient, bringing the app closer to competitors like Telegram.
