28.05.2025

In the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic, Bishkek, the construction of a new cable car system is planned by 2028. The project aims to develop the city’s transport infrastructure and implement an environmentally friendly transport solution.

The project envisions a 6-kilometer route with a capacity to serve between 50,000 and 100,000 passengers daily, creating a convenient and efficient transport network for the city’s residents.

It is expected that this infrastructure project will be implemented between 2025 and 2028, with an estimated cost of around 70 million euros, funded by a private investor.

In early 2024, reports suggested that the cable car might be operational by the third quarter of 2025. However, as of now, only the development of a feasibility study has been completed, with 300,000 US dollars allocated for this stage.

The cable car system is anticipated to be beneficial for Bishkek’s residents and play a crucial role in the city’s transportation network.

Overall, this project will contribute significantly to addressing urban transport issues and promoting an eco-friendly mode of transit.
