British heavyweight: “The world’s best boxers couldn’t land a proper hit on Usyk”

07.05.2025

On July 19, a fight will take place for the title of absolute world champion in heavyweight boxing (over 90.7 kg). This major boxing event is being organized by influential British promoter Frank Warren and his company Queensberry Promotions.

In the ring, WBC, WBO, and WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk (23–0, 14 KO) will face IBF world champion Daniel Dubois (22–2, 21 KO). British heavyweight Solomon Dacres, who has sparred with Dubois, shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight:

“I wouldn’t say that Daniel has changed much compared to his first fight with Usyk. I’ve sparred with him for years, and now he looks more confident. He has a very strong punch and a dangerous jab, but I haven’t noticed any major changes.

Honestly, there’s nothing you can do against Usyk in the ring. He has beaten all the strongest boxers. If Dubois has had some victories in recent years, that doesn’t mean he’ll defeat Usyk easily. After all, he lost in their first fight. This is too high of a challenge for the Brit.

There’s no point clutching at straws because Usyk is practically impossible to catch. It doesn’t matter whether that previous hit was below the belt or not—the world’s top boxers couldn’t land a solid hit on the Ukrainian. There is no debate. It’s foolish to hope that Dubois will knock out Oleksandr with a miracle punch,” said Dacres.
