Since 2024, Football World Day has been celebrated annually on May 25 in all countries of the world, following a decision by the UN General Assembly. In honor of this occasion, a special event was held in Ashgabat, organized by the Turkmenistan Football Federation and the Embassy of Tajikistan.
In his speech, Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Vafo Alibek Niyatbekzoda, emphasized that football is not just a sport but a way of life for many people. He noted that the game instills discipline, teaches how to win fairly, and accept defeat with dignity.
After the official ceremony, a friendly match took place between the team of Tajikistan embassy diplomats and students from Turkmenistan Football Federation courses.
The sports event held in Ashgabat once again highlighted the significant role of football in society and its importance in fostering friendship and cooperation between nations.
