The second round of the NHL playoffs has kicked off with two new matchups.
Washington hosted Carolina but failed to secure a win, losing 1-2 in the first overtime. The Eastern Conference’s top team scored first, then their opponent equalized, and Jacob Slavin secured the game-winning goal in overtime.
In the West, the visitors also started strong. Edmonton staged a comeback and defeated Vegas 4-2. The Knights led 2-0 early thanks to a double from Stone, but they couldn’t hold onto their advantage.
Goals from Hyman and Brown late in the third period ensured a successful start to the second round for the Oilers.
