Turkmenistan’s Textile Industry Minister Leads Delegation to Belgium: Meeting with Leading Belgian Company Picanol

As part of strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Belgium, a delegation led by Turkmenistan’s Minister of Textile Industry, Nurmuhammet Orazgeldiyev, paid a working visit to Ypres, Belgium, where the headquarters of the global textile machinery leader Picanol is located.

On behalf of Belgium, the Turkmen delegation was welcomed by Tony Decocq, sales director of weaving machines at Picanol. During the meeting, he gave a detailed presentation on the company’s history and development, from its foundation to its current progress.

During the visit, Turkmen representatives were introduced to the production facilities, where modern weaving machines are developed and manufactured. The Belgian side provided an extensive presentation on technologies, production processes, and innovations in textile machinery. Delegates also had the chance to see demonstration models and visit the assembly and testing facilities.

A key focus of the discussions was the successful 20-year partnership between Picanol and Turkmenistan’s textile enterprises. The Turkmen side praised the quality and reliability of Picanol’s equipment, noting its efficiency and compliance with modern textile industry standards. Given their experience operating Picanol’s equipment over the years, Turkmen specialists expressed strong interest in expanding cooperation further.

Turkmenistan also expressed willingness to purchase additional weaving machines and upgrade existing equipment, strengthening production capacity and enhancing competitiveness in international textile markets.

The negotiations also covered technical support, maintenance services, and staff training programs.

This visit marked another important step in industrial cooperation between Turkmenistan and leading European manufacturers, opening new horizons for the sustainable development of Turkmenistan’s textile industry.
