Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan Discuss Prospects for Bilateral Cooperation in Tashkent

On June 10, 2025, Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov arrived in Tashkent for an official visit, where he met with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The two leaders discussed the future of friendly relations and strategic partnership between their countries.

During the meeting, Ali Asadov conveyed greetings and best wishes from Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, to which the Uzbek leader responded with mutual goodwill. Both leaders emphasized that bilateral cooperation has strengthened significantly in recent years and outlined key areas for further development.

Key discussion points: Trade and economic cooperation – The parties explored ways to increase trade turnover and implement new joint projects. Energy and transport infrastructure – Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan reviewed opportunities to expand collaboration in these sectors. Cultural and educational ties – Initiatives for student exchanges and cultural programs were discussed.

Ali Asadov also congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Uzbekistan’s historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup, noting that this achievement would further strengthen sports relations between the two nations.

This meeting highlighted Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan’s commitment to deepening their partnership and launching new joint initiatives.
