From May 28 to 30 this year, the first festival of young poets from Turkic states took place in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic. The large-scale literary and creative forum, organized by TÜRKSOY, saw active participation from both established and emerging poets from Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

As part of the festival, a ceremony was held in Osh to unveil a monument dedicated to the prominent Kyrgyz writer Jolan Mamytov. At the first TÜRKSOY-organized young poets’ festival, poets from participating countries recited their poems on assigned themes. During free literature evenings, they performed artistic readings and shared their experiences in translating works of distinguished figures of Turkic literature.

Based on the results of the festival’s competition stage, and following the jury’s decision, among nearly 100 participants, Muhammet Bekgiyev, the executive secretary of the newspaper “Turkmenistan,” and Danatar Galpakov, the section editor of the newspaper “Nesil,” became laureates of the “Green World” competition-festival among young poets of the Turkic world and were awarded TÜRKSOY’s international medal named after Jolan Mamytov.

It is also worth noting that within the festival, Akmyrat Rejebov, deputy head of the creative workers’ department of Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Culture, was accepted as an honorary member of the Writers’ Union of the Kyrgyz Republic.
