Former Waymo engineers founded the startup Bedrock Robotics, which will create autonomous systems for construction equipment.
The company has already attracted $ 80 million investments from Eclipse and 8VC funds. The developers plan to release a set of autonomous driving, which can be installed on existing construction equipment.
The system includes sensors, a computing unit and software that allows you to understand the tasks of the project, adapt to the conditions of the construction site and perform work without human participation.
The co -founder and CEO Bedrock Boris Sofman previously headed the Waymo cargo unit, and also founded Anki Robotics, known for Cozmo robots. The team included other former Waymo and SEGMENT engineers.
The startup is already testing its system in Arkansas, Arizona, Texas and California in cooperation with five building corporations.
Bedrock Robotics plans to take a niche of autonomous special equipment, using experience from the sphere of unmanned vehicles to construction, mining and industrial projects.
