Military expert Alexei Leonkov told Lente.ru that Türkiye is at the initial stage of the creation of a hypersonic missile. We are talking about the TayFun Block-4 rocket, which was recently shown at the International Arms Exhibition in Istanbul.
According to open sources, TayFun Block-4 is a ballistic missile weighing more than 7 tons with a multi-purpose combat part, capable of hitting targets several kilometers. But so far there is no accurate information about its maneuverability.
Leonkov explained that most ballistic missiles fly at hypersonic speed, but real hypersonic missiles are able to maneuver during the flight so that they are more difficult to knock down. The Turkish rocket, most likely, can only make small maneuvers in one plane and is not able to bypass obstacles, like Russian “Iskander”.
The expert noted that Turkey’s technologies are far from those that Russia has (the complexes “Dagger”, “Zircon”, “Avangard”) and China, which have already advanced far in this area.
According to Leonkov, the US situation also has a similar situation – there is also no controlled hypersonic weapons, but only missiles that fly very quickly along the ballistic trajectory.
