According to The Elec, the company considers the rejection of the titanium rear panel used in the Galaxy Z Fold 7, in favor of composite material – plastic reinforced with carbon fiber (CFRP).
Such a step will reduce the cost of the device, but will affect its strength and premium status. Previously, CFRP has already been used in Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Fold 6, so this cannot be called a full “Dawngraid”.
However, the titanium, in addition to strength, gives the device a premium appearance, and its replacement with plastic can be perceived by the market as a simplification.
The reason for the change in the complexity of the supply of titanium due to trade restrictions and the growth of cost against the background of the world economic situation.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected in 2026 and may be the first Samsung step towards the more massive spread of its folding smartphones by reducing prices.
At the same time, there is no official confirmation of changes, so information should be treated with caution.
