The press service of the MIREA RTU reported that the university specialists created a digital database of bicycle routes for the Kommunarka district in New Moscow. The uniqueness of the project is that the card includes not only existing, but also planned bicycle paths, which will help to develop a bicycle infrastructure in this fast -growing area.
According to the university, such decisions do not yet exist – open databases usually record only constructed objects. The author of the project, student Semyon Semenov conducted field research by studying traffic flows and revealing the shortcomings of the current infrastructure. Based on these data, a concept was developed that takes into account safety and ease of movement.
According to the head of the Department of Geoinformation Systems of Alexei Dvilyansky, this map may become the basis for the development of the transport network of the district.
