In the fresh update of Windows 11, Microsoft officially abandoned the cult blue screen of death (BSOD).
Now, during the failures, the system will show the black screen – the so -called Black Screen of Death, while the abbreviation BSOD remains the same.
The KB5062660 update is available for Windows 11 of the 24H2 version and is set manually through the Windows Update Center or through the Microsoft update catalog.
After installation, the system is updated before assembly 26100.4770 and receives preliminary access to the innovations planned for the August Patch Tuesday.
The new screen differs only visually: now it is without an emoticon and a QR code, only a dry message about failure. The screen is displayed only a couple of seconds, which may complicate the understanding of the cause of the failure, especially if the user is abstract.
In addition to changing the screen, the update brings improvements for Copilot+ PC, expands the support of the recall function in the EU countries and adds a Quick Machine Recovery recovery mechanism.
