Microsoft, together with the French government, begins to create a digital copy of the Notre Dame de Pari Cathedral, one of the most visited monuments of the country. This Gothic cathedral, which is more than 860 years old, opened after a five -year restoration conducted after the 2019 fire.
The digital replica will serve as an archive of the architectural details of the building and will virtually visit the cathedral to those who cannot come to Paris. This approach will make it possible to preserve in digital format the appearance and features of Notre Dama de Pari in case of future changes or damage.
Notre-Dame-de-Pari became a symbol of France thanks to the novel by Victor Hugo, “Cathedral of the Paris Mother of God”, published in 1831. The main character of the book, Quasimodo, repeatedly appeared in films, cartoons and musicals, which made the cathedral even better known around the world.
