Specialists from Novosibirsk have developed a new biopesticide that helps plants to fight fungal infections on their own. The drug has already successfully passed field tests, confirming its effectiveness.
Unlike traditional chemical pesticides that destroy pathogens, but can harm plants and the environment, a new remedy works on a different principle. It activates the natural protective mechanisms of plants, making them more resistant to diseases.
Studies have shown that the drug increases the number of special receptors on the surface of plant cells. These receptors recognize chitin in the mushroom shell and launch an immune reaction. In addition, the product helps to develop hydrogen peroxide in affected tissues, which helps to fight infection.
Specialists of the Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry SB RAS were engaged in the development, and the tests were carried out at the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the SB RAS. Scientists note that when jointly used with other means of protection, the drug shows a synergistic effect.
