The CNMC antimonopoly regulator has announced the expansion of the investigation against Apple. The company is suspected of creating unequal conditions for application developers posted in the App Store.
The investigation concerns possible restrictions on competition that could arise due to the established pricing scheme. According to the regulator, Apple requires developers to follow its commercial conditions, which interferes with free pricing and puts different companies in an unequal position.
The expansion of the audit was a continuation of the investigation, which CNMC began about a year ago. Then Apple has already rejected the accusations and announced readiness for cooperation with the Spanish regulator.
The regulator also emphasizes that the App Store was created as a safe platform for users and as a convenient sales channel for developers. However, in Spain they intend to study more deeply whether the current Apple policy is market competition and whether the interests of local companies infringe on the interests of local companies.
