On the first day of the visit to the United States, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov, along with the delegation, visited the Johnson space center, where they got acquainted with important objects and technologies of NASA.
Bakanov visited the Center for Flight Management of the American ISS segment in Houston. There he met with employees who, if necessary, could take control of the Russian segment of the station if the center in Korolev, Moscow Region is unavailable.
A tour of the hull with the ground simulator of the Russian and American segments of the ISS and the space nutrition laboratory was also held.
The head of Roscosmos met with Russian cosmonauts, who are now undergoing training in the United States-Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikayev, Peter Dubrov and Anna Kikina.
Before flying to the ISS, each Russian astronaut is trained at NASA to study the American segment of the station. At the same time, foreign astronauts are trained at the Cosmonauts training center in Russia. This helps all crew members together and effectively respond to any freelance situations at the station.
