Apple officially confirmed that even a thin object left between the screen and the MacBook Air keyboard can lead to an expensive breakdown of the display.
The reason is the design of the laptop: due to the desire to make the housing as thin as possible between the keyboard and the screen with a closed lid is minimal.
Even a regular sheet of paper or cardboard, which is in this space, can press on the matrix and damage it.
This happened with the Tiktok user under the nickname Classicheidi, which left a piece of cardboard on the keyboard and closed the laptop. At the next opening, the display was damaged – stripes and distortions of the image appeared.
In the documentation, Apple warns that before closing the lid you need to remove any extraneous items – from pieces of paper to linings on the keyboard or camera. Failure to comply with this rule can turn into a repair of hundreds of dollars.
To avoid risk, it is important to close the MacBook only with a completely clean work surface of the keyboard.
