The YouTube blogger RandomgaminginHD tested the Radeon RX 6500 XT with 4 GB of video memory in updated games of 2025. The results were very ambiguous.
The card still copes with past projects: GTA V Enhanced in FullHD at high settings is on average at 70 FPS, Cyberpunk 2077 on minimals holds 60 FPS, Red Dead Redemption 2 with high textures and low other parameters – about 80 FPS.
Even in Helldivers 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 you can play at low settings at 65–70 FPS.
However, in modern AAA-Hit RX 6500 XT, frankly “suffocating”. In Doom: The Dark Ages, even with minimal graphics and FSR Ultra Performance, is only 23 FPS, and in the Oblivion remaster – only 14 FPS.
In Clair Obscure: Expedition 33, the average framework was 41.5 FPS, but frequent microfrisis with subsidence up to 12.7 FPS make the gameplay uncomfortable.
The conclusion is obvious: 4 GB of video memory in 2025 is not enough for demanding games. Therefore, it is not worth buying an RX 6500 XT for current projects.
