Apple expands the production of iPhone in India, trying to reduce dependence on China for the American market. All four IPhone 17 models will be made in India, it reports. Bloomberg insider Mark Gurman in collaboration with Indian insider Sankalp Fartyal.
It is reported that the expansion of production includes five factories, including new Tata Group and Foxconn. It is expected that TATA enterprises will produce up to half of all iPhone in India in the next two years.
Already in the period from April to July, the iPhone was sent from India in the amount of $ 7.5 billion, which is twice as much as for the entire previous financial year. India overtook China and became a leading manufacturer of smartphones for the United States. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical platform of Canlys.
The transfer of production is due to the desire to reduce the risks associated with the geopolitical tension and tariff policy of the United States. However, China prevents the transfer of technology, and Foxconn withdrew Chinese engineers, replacing them with specialists from Taiwan and Japan, which increased costs.
